I am currently doing 4K video editing on my late 2013 Mac Pro equipped with a pair of D700 graphics cards. I would recommend the D700 over the D500 for 4K video editing, especially if you plan to run a 4K monitor (as I am doing) while editing. This is because of the larger amount of video ram provided by the D700 over the D500 and the demands made on the graphics cards by 4K editing. Since it is not presently possible to upgrade from the D500 to the D700 card, I believe you would be wise to chose the D700 now at the time of your purchase.
