'Cursed Fates: The Headless Horseman Collector's Edition is a hidden objectadventure game based on the Hollywood adaptation Sleepy Hollow, rather than the original short story by Washington Irving. Set in 1799 New York, you take the role of Constable Crane, sent to investigate the mystery of the headless horseman and a series of murders. The story is strong, the graphics and animated cut scenes are excellent, the voice-overs are well acted and the sound-effects and music make enhance the haunting atmosphere. There are lots of loctions to explore, the hidden object gameplay is a mix of traditional item lists and pictures of objects to find. Some objects are quite small, and a challenge to find. Some items need to be combined in the inventory too. There are golden horseshoes to find and exchange for trophies. There is a journal and there are two levels of difficulty to choose from. Experienced players may feel there is not enough challenge, but there is nice interaction with the townspeople and the ghosts and overall this is a good story and great entertainment.

• In story scenes you collect items to use in tasks now or later. Found items are stored in the Inventory at the bottom of the screen. Items stay in the Inventory until they are used.
  
• Sometimes you may need to combine two inventory items. A Combine window is displayed at the top of the inventory panel. Click the first item, then click inside the window. The item should move into the window. Repeat with the second item, then click the Plus sign.
  
• If the inventory panel is not displayed when you need to use it, move your mouse around the bottom of the screen to activate it.
  
• Completing a task in an story scene triggers a hidden object scene or a puzzle.
  
• There are two types of hidden object scenes. Either items to find are listed traditional across the bottom of the screen, or pictures are displayed in the inventory panel and you have to find the matching objects in the scene.
  
• Completing a hidden object scene or puzzle earns more inventory objects.
  
• Hints are unlimited. Click the Pumpkin Hint button at the bottom right of the screen, but you may need to wait for the button to recharge.
  
• The Journal at the bottom left of the screen has story updates and clues. Read this often.
